White Texas Sheet Cake

Ingredients 

FOR THE CAKE:

  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

FOR THE FROSTING:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 4 1/2 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • Colored Sprinkles for Topping

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a large saucepan, bring butter and water to a boil.
  • Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes. 
  • Stir in flour, sugar, eggs, sour cream, extracts, salt, and baking soda until smooth.
  • Pour batter into a greased 10×15-inch baking pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 22 minutes, or until cake is golden brown and tests done.
  • Combine butter and milk in a saucepan. Bring to a boil. Then remove from heat.
  • Mix in sugar and extract. Spread frosting over the cake while it is still warm.
